The Old Rectory

Managing and working on the interior design of this Old Rectory in North Yorkshire was extremely rewarding. From day one, the team stepped up and the vision of making a stunning family home with beautiful grounds began.
We decided to use neutral paint and fabrics, but to bring colour in through soft furnishings and artwork. Lighting plays a huge part in any refurbishment. Here we used the same style throughout the house, giving a feeling of calm and elegance. A large extension with bifold doors opening on to an entertaining area was added to the kitchen and a beautiful stone Orangery was built (which leads from the main sitting room).
The whole house was refurbished and a loft conversion created a large master bedroom with a bathroom and dressing room. On the first floor we added panelling to each of the four bedrooms, installed three new bathrooms, one hidden behind a wardrobe door giving the element of surprise. By changing the bannisters and spindles and adding a magnificent chandelier, the staircase became a beautiful feature as did the new staircase to the loft.
Downstairs we created a cosy snug with every wall being panelled. A very large, impressive stone fireplace was built in the main sitting room and an elegant study was created. After 18 months of being on site, we are extremely proud of the finished project. The brief was met, work was completed to a high standard and we had a very happy client.
